Part 1 - Washing and Treating Routine for Afro-Hair

I have a very strict(ish) routine when it comes to looking after my hair. I always try to wash my hair every two weeks, and treat it too. I condition my scalp (usually) every other day, or when it feels dry!

Let’s Shampoo

I use ProFectiv Stimulating Shampoo for my first two washes to lather my hair and get the scalp nice and clean, before finishing with KeraCare Hydrating Detangling Shampoo for one last wash (three washes in total).

For me it’s all about that tingling feeling so I know my hair is clean. They are both under £10 each, so totally affordable and they both smell great too.

I sometimes find other shampoos leave my hair very dry and tangled, but this combo does the opposite and leaves my hair feeling rather soft and clean.

Treatment Time

Depending on if I want a deep conditioning treatment or a quick conditioning treatment, I swap between the Affirm 5-in-1 Reconstructor or the Hollywood Beauty Hair Mask with Moroccan Argan Oil. As you may (or may not) know, Moroccan Argan Oil is great for skin, hair and nails. Packed with Vitamin E, essential fatty acids and antioxidants, it’s perfect for our hair.

I always use a wide tooth comb to help work the treatment from root to tips, and to get out any tangles. Usually leaving the treatment in for at least 5 minutes before washing out which leads me nicely to Part 2 - Conditioning Afro-Hair
