Album Review: J Lo - Dance Again…The Hits
So when J to the L.O decided to release an album with all her greatest hits, of course I was excited. After all she’s the one that has taught us so much about her through her music, like ‘her love don’t cost a thing’ and ‘don’t be fooled by the rocks that she got!’
This album brings together her best hits and some of my all time faves! Let’s start with the album title song ‘Dance Again’ featuring the lyrical commentary of Pitbull, with much needed additions like Dance.Yes.Love.Next, you can only admire the smooth Latin vibe he adds to the track (or any track really…Dah-lin!). Just watch the video and see what he has to say in the first 10 seconds of the song - GENIUS! (I use that term very loosely)
Oh by the way the track was recently glee-mixed and featured on the premier episode of Glee Season 4. Kate Hudson (love her!) plays a tough dance teacher/washed up broadway star, Cassandra July, and shows she still has it with her all singing and dancing performance. I highly suggest you watch it if you love Kate Hudson, like Glee, love some Gaga and enjoy great mashups! (Video: Kate Hudson performs Americano/Dance Again on Glee)
The album also features some of the better mixes of her songs like the slow groove, chilled out, head nodding, side stepping ‘I’m Real’ feat Ja Rule’, although I do prefer the up beat ghetto fab original version which is a little bit more ‘dancey’ for me!
Of course nothing beats a good throwback like ‘If you had my love’, classic old skool JLO, that made me fall for her Latino tunes! Including my ultimate getting-ready-for-a-night-out-tune ‘Feelin so good’ ft Fat Joe and Big Pun. Two larger than life Latino rappers! (Yeah…you know what I mean!)
With quite a few songs it’s only right I finish with a more recent hit that always gets my fist pumping. So all together now…naaaaaananana na na na na na na na na naaaaaaa - On the floor (once again featuring the man that can always rhyme Pitbull!)
There are so many reasons to listen to this album, especially since Miss Lopez will be touring the UK next year! That’s why this album get’s my stamp of approval! WooHoo!
